This collection represents a more experimental aspect of Karma's practice. Nearly every morning, he sets out for a walk with his two dogs, Daisy and Polly, carrying a simple sketchbook and watercolour set, painting whatever catches his eye — the dogs are a favourite subject, but landscapes, waves, mountains, and wildlife all find their way into these pages as well. He has also experimented extensively with multimedia; Interdependence and Flame of Infinite Hope, for example, are both collages built with acrylic paint.

Karma has also spent considerable time crafting installations of papier-mâché skulls, modelled from an authentic Tibetan skull, and plans to continue expanding this body of work. His earlier skull installations were created as a tribute to the 159 Tibetan martyrs who have self-immolated since 2009 — individuals ranging from 15-year-old monks to 81-year-old grandfathers, who set themselves on fire calling for human rights and freedom in Tibet. The skulls stand as a grim reminder of the courage, desperation, and sacrifice behind each of these acts.
